Eyes and Lips.

This week in lesson we were practicing eyeshadow application with the MAC neutral cool palette and  lipstick application using the Kryolan lip kit. I liked working on eyes as i feel like that is my strong point with makeup application as i like to blend everything perfectly so that there is a seamless finish to the looks i create.

EYES:

• Powder over eyelid before using powder eyeshadow.
• If the eyeshadow is a grease shadow do not powder the eyelid.
• When applying eyeshadow use colours going from light to dark.
• Powder on a cotton bud can blend away and clear up any mistakes.
• Brush through eyebrows with a spooly to have a clear and defined shape and fill in with an eyeshadow colour the same colours as the roots of model's hair.
• Build up eyeshadow slowly rather than going in thick and heavily and possibly making small mistakes.
• Make sure to blend all colours together thoroughly to avoid harsh lines.
• Use a clean spooly to apply mascara to models eyelashes. 
• Do Not double dip the mascara spooly as to avoid cross contamination of products.

I like how my eyeshadow came out. I think I blended quite well as i am quite confident with shading and highlighting different parts of the eye. I found putting mascara on my model a bit harder than expected as i was trying to be careful not to place any makeup on the eyeshadow i had just applied and also trying to be gentle and not poke her in her eye. I think if i continue to practice applying mascara to different people and experiment with different eye shapes i will become more confident with this.

LIPS:

• Prime lips using a good lip balm such as Elizabeth Arden  8 hour cream or for men Carmex because it has a matte finish.
• Choose a small brush to apply lipstick to the lips with.
• Work backward and forward on the side of the brush to create a full coverage look with no seams.
• Ask the model to rub her lips together to blend the lipstick into the lips.
• Blot lips using tissue.
• Powder lips to set lipstick or repeat until you achieve the desired look.

For the lips i picked two colours from the Kryolan lip palette and mixed them together to create a nude/ light pink colour that was quite similar to my models natural lip colour. I like how my final look came together however i think i need to invest in some different brushes to be able to achieve better blending and lipstick application as there isn't a proper lip brush in our kit.
