Makeup Inspirations and Initial Ideas

Make up inspirations and ideas.

After being given the brief I have wanted to research a few contemporary interpretations of Elizabethan makeup styling that I could gain inspiration from. I found these images on Tumblr.

I like that this look is very over dramatic and create an eerie and gothic take on the standard Elizabethan makeup look. I like that there is red eyeshadow and a black lip with a pale complexion as I feel that these components create a very dark and sensual look. However I do not like the style of the hair and head piece as I feel this is too punk orientated to be a contemporary makeup look for The Virgin Queen. 

I really  like this look as it has the general features of an Elizabethan look i.e. No eyebrows, Frizzy red hair, pale complexion, However the lips and eye makeup has been dulled down to create this beautiful monochromatic look that tones in with  the rest of the hair. I especially like the white eyelashes and I would like to experiment with that in the future.



I like that this look is very modernised with slicked back silver hair and a prominent brow. The purple lip adds colour and drama to the look while still keeping a refined and powerful appearance of a Queen. The eyeliner however I think is a bit too modern for the look I want to produce and so I will probably try and avoid the use of eyeliner in my final look.
