Contouring and Highlighting.
The main rule for Contour and highlighting is to use cream products of top of cream products an then use powder products on top of powder products because you cannot go back with a cream product after using powder.
The first step was applying a full coverage base, see my earlier technical file blog on foundation application. Here i have inserted a picture so the before and after of contour and highlight has a clear transition.

For the begging of the look i chose a colour from my concealer palette that was about two shades darker than the skin colour to place and blend underneath the cheek bone using a small circular blending brush, my finger and finally a buffing brush to create some depth and dimension on the face by bringing the cheekbones up and forward on the face using shade and tone.
I then used a highlight powder on the top of the cheekbone to create light on the face and show prominent features. I then went over the top of the cream contour with a similar coloured powder from the kryolan highlight and bronze palette to set the cream product in place.
I really like how the contour on the cheek bones. I also contoured the sides of the forehead and blended this out with my kabuki buffing brush. When a model's nose is big makeup artists often contour down the sides and the bottom of the nose to create a smaller more structured facial feature. However my model's nose was not a large one so i decided not to contour it. I did add a small amount of highlight down the bridge of the nose just to pull the face together and i think it worked really well. I look forward to using this technique in the future.
