Sugar Skulls.

Sugar Skulls.

This week we took a break from creating Elizabethan makeup looks to practice making sugar skulls. We did however use a white base, similar to the Elizabethan style of makeup i have been practicing. Similarly to the Elizabethan style of makeup i chose one colour (pink) from the kryolan bright eyeshadow colour palette to create a bold and striking look. I decided against the black petalled outline that is usually around the black eye sockets and filled with colour and instead put the colour on the inside of the eye sockets because i thought this would look a little different than some of my peers looks. i then used a lighter pink colour to contour the cheek bones, forehead and nose and added small decorations to the forehead to fill up the blank space created by the white by using the black colour in the kryolan supra colour palette. I really like how the colours work together and contrast to create an interesting look that catches the eye. If i could go back and change some things i would have extended the nose part of the face paint to go onto the nostrils. I would also have bought a small curved brush to create more defined edges on my detailing in black as i think it looks a bit messy and unfinished. I want to practice getting both sides of the face even to produce a more symmetrical skull shape.

My Halloween Makeup Looks:

In this look i experimented with Bambi and so tried to do quite neutral coloured makeup.
I like how it turned out but i think the white dots could have been neater and more prominent in the look.

This look was a dead cat look which i think worked well. i used eyeshadows to shade and contour my nose to create a wider looking and more cat like effect.
